One Heart Worldwide Nepal Inaugurates New Maternal Health Initiative in Humla

Simkot, Humla – January 12, 2025 – One Heart Worldwide Nepal officially launched its new maternal health initiative in Humla with an inauguration program attended by key dignitaries, including the Chief District Administration Officer, an Inspector from Nepal Police, the Former Chairman of Simkot Rural Municipality, the Executive Director of SIDC, a member of the Federation of Journalism, the Chief In-Charge of District Hospital, and other stakeholders.

The initiative, titled Active Implementation 2025-2029, is a comprehensive effort aimed at improving maternal and newborn health in Humla. The project is being implemented in partnership with SIDC Humla and has been allocated a budget of Nepali Currency Rs. 8,45,01,527.

According to Rabin Joshi, Sr. Program Coordinator, the initiative will provide need-based support to help local governments address gaps in maternal healthcare services. The program will include various district-level activities, such as:

  • Maternity home construction and renovation to enhance childbirth facilities.
  • Health planning and budgeting workshops for rural municipalities in Humla.
  • Renovation of birthing centers and provision of essential medical equipment to improve birthing conditions.
  • Skilled birth attendant training to strengthen the local healthcare workforce.
  • Simulation-based on-site coaching and monitoring to ensure continuous improvement in maternal care services.

“This initiative is a major step towards strengthening maternal and newborn health services in Humla,” said Rabin Joshi. “Through collaboration with local governments and stakeholders, we aim to ensure safe and quality maternal healthcare for all.”

With this initiative, One Heart Worldwide Nepal continues its commitment to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Nepal’s remote regions, contributing to the nation’s goal of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for maternal and child health.
